Someone just forwarded me this. A Nokia E55. What initially thought to be rumours are now solid as the Nokia E55 is launch in Barcelona, Spain on the 16th February 2009 together with Nokia E75, a full QWERTY slide out keyboard phone. After more than 10 million units of E-series sold in 2008, Nokia is looking at another successful year for the E-series as business are now looking for cost effective ways to operate while still maintaining the same efficiency. With this vision, Nokia has device a strategy that is appealing to many business people.
“With the Nokia E55 we have made messaging as efficient and pocketable as possible,” continues Oistamo. “In our usage tests, the Nokia E55’s compact QWERTY keyboard has been proven to be fast to learn and quicker to use than standard phone keypads.”
With 116.5 x 49 x 9.9 mm in dimension and weight 95g, it is obviously a very slim and stylish looking phone. The best thing about it is its compact qwerty design which keeps it slim but conveniently offers a full QWERTY function for e-mails. Talking about e-mails, it supports various protocols - IMAP4 (with idle), Intellisync, Mail for Exchange, POP3, SMTP. To keep stock information up-to-date and latest e-mails coming in, the phone supports the ultra fast HSUPA which also enables the phone for high speed internet browsing through its supported HTML, XHTML, MP, WML, CSS. TCP/IP support is also available meaning that it can then be hooked up to any VoIP services for online conferencing.

The Nokia E55 is fully loaded with applications such as Quick Office editors, PDF Viewer, ZIP Manager, MOT Dictionary and many more including IM services like MSN Messenger. Best thing about it is, it is also loaded with N-Gage games as it is also N-Gage enabled. Very cool but peculiar for a business phone.
All important data that is obtained on the go or needed on the go can be retrieved online through OVI data and contact support. An online repository is made available free for phone purchasers. It has dual home screen for personal and work, like its predecessors in E71 and E63. FOTA (Firmware update Over The Air) is also made available to ensure device stability during crucial decision making process. It has also A-GPS and also Nokia Maps applications.
The Nokia E75 is expected to ship in March at an estimated retail price of 375 EUR, before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia E55 is expected to ship in the second quarter at an estimated retail price will be 265 EUR, before taxes and subsidies.
