Whenever there’s a new smart phone coming out, with touch screen capabilities, I had always thought why didn’t Nokia, a mobile giant capitalize on this next step of mobile phone features. The Nokia 5800 Music Express is Nokia’s first touch screen phone

With its target to beat iPhone as the ultimate multimedia device that offers telecommunication service, it comes as no surprise that the first ever touch screen Nokia caters the 5800 series music edition.

Nokia had identify the mid range and youth market for this phone and comes with an affordable price of 279 euro. It has all features that makes it an all around multimedia device - competing against the iPhone. As said in the previous post on connectivity, it supports a 3G and Wi-Fi connection for internet connection on top of the standard bluetooth and USB for data transfers. Video playback is so important in all multimedia devices and the Nokia 5800 Music Express touch screen has nHD screen which means that it is proportionately equivalent to 1/9 of the original HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

It also comes with a cool haptic feedback in which it vibrates slightly but more solidly, and touch media bar screen for easy music, video, and other multimedia playback and sharing. A 3.2 MB Carl-Zeiss lense with surround stereo speaker is the icing on this delicious looking cake. It came in black, shiny with great design and comes in 3 standard Nokia Music Express colors of red, blue and grey.

The timing for the release of this phone seems that Nokia tries to position itself in the hype of HTC G1 and the new Blackberry touch screen. This is also seen as a positive move in which, this could be the start for touch screen mobile phones in Nokia production line and greater designs are bound to follow.
